After taking home dozens of awards from ALG, AutoPacific, Ward, and others, it’s safe to call the 2001 Hyundai Elantra a “game-changer”. We can now add Kelley Blue Book to the list of publications to recognize the Elantra as best-in-class, as the 2011 model has tied for the top spot in the auto authority’s compact sedan comparison test.

The test, which included the Elantra, Honda Civic, Chevrolet Cruze, and Ford Focus, was conducted by giving an overall rating as well as individual ratings for interior, exterior, performance, comfort/convenience, and value. KBB reviewers recognized that the Elantra provided remarkable luxury features and advanced design unlike any other vehicle in its price range, as well as best-in-class fuel economy at 40 highway MPG. Last year, the Elantra was also recognized by Motor Trend as the most fuel-efficient non-hybrid vehicle on the market.

Tying with the Honda Civic at 7.5/10 possible points, the Elantra was especially praised for having the lowest ticket price out of all 4 models at just $22,830. The Elantra looks to continue its reign at the top of its class for 2012, and we’re excited about more news on the model in the coming months. Just when you thought there weren’t any awards left to be won, Hyundai’s most popular sedans took home back-to-back honors from Kelley Blue Book (KBB) and Polk, an automotive data and marketing solutions leader.

The 2011 Elantra is rounding out its award-winning year by being named one of the “Top 10 Coolest New Cars Under $18,000″ by KBB. Rather than the usual honors of exceeding its competition in fuel economy, the Elantra earned a spot on the list simply by “being fun to drive and fun to own”. KBB experts praised the Elantra’s all-around package and design, noting its convenient interior and safety features as well as some of the most advanced technological features on the market today.

As for the 2011 Sonata, you might expect another victory along the lines of Best Family Car, Best Car For Commuters, Best Buy or Top Safety Pick. Polk went a different direction in honoring the Sonata, crowning the Hyundai model with the unexpected title of “King of Automotive Conquests”. Polk mentioned that competitors must be concerned as more than 50% of Hyundai’s customers plan to buy another, a testament to Hyundai’s loyal customers.

The Sonata continues to draw consumers into Hyundai dealerships with its exciting design, class-leading fuel economy, and outstanding residual value.
