Portland Car Dealer: 2012 Hyundai Veloster Invades Portland’s Pioneer Square!
Making its debut last month, Hyundai’s highly-anticipated 3-door coupe, the Veloster, got into the hands of Driving Sports TV for a full test-drive. Starting in Portland’s Pioneer Square and making its way around Oregon and Washington’s gorgeous scenery, the publication’s experts were in for quite the fun ride.
Offered in both a six-speed manual and duel-clutch automatic, the Veloster has drawn much attention from environmentalists by achieving a jaw-dropping 40 highway MPG – nearing the fuel economy of many hybrid models. The reviewers liked the feel of the dual-clutch, preferring it to the six-speed despite being manual transmission enthusiasts. They also praised the surprising amount of space in the back seat to go along with the convenient passenger-side third door.
The interior includes materials that were visibility higher-quality than the competition, which is impressive for a vehicle starting at just $17,000. Coming standard on every Veloster is the 7-inch touchscreen display for controlling the stereo, navigation, and even displaing fuel economy information. It also integrates with popular apps like Pandora, which are conveniently displayed vs. having to use your smartphone separately. The Veloster has also been called “the most fun car to drive at night”, as the roof of the vehicle acts as one super-sized moon-roof so you can gaze at the stars.

As we look forward to auto show season, we can’t help but get excited for what’s to come at next month’s SEMA Auto Show in Las
Vegas. This event is always an exciting one as many auto manufacturers will reveal early-stage concepts and judge the public’s reaction to determine whether or not they will make it to production. One model generating specials attention in anticipation of the event is the Hyundai Genesis Hurricane – and with good reason due to its jaw-dropping horsepower and highly-anticipated design.
As Edmund’s Inside Line reports, the level of hype for the latest Hyundai concept is one of the most compelling to date. What makes it especially unique isn’t its powerful 3.8-liter V6 engine – it’s the Magnuson Products supercharger that gives the model an impressive 144-horsepower boost for a total of 450 horsepower. Although the model is slated for future track events vs. a path for mass production, there is a tremendous amount of excitement around the model that engineers have worked diligently to bring to life for the last 2 years.
This is just a showcar. However, Magnuson provides us with the ability to produce an OEM-level supercharger if we wanted to. Our guys at HATCI are real gearheads and are always tinkering around on the side. We continue to investigate options. – Hyundai Motor America Spokesman Miles Johnson

Portland Car Dealer: Hyundai Santa Fe to Undergo Major Redesign For 2013
In a matter of months, the Hyundai Santa Fe became one of the most popular mid-size models in the Hyundai lineup. As consumer preferences continue to change, however, 
Hyundai is looking towards 2013 and has a very compelling redesign planned for the model.
As Car and Driver reports, the 2013 Santa Fe is currently in the early testing phase and there is much speculation at this point. What is clear is that the model will likely take on Hyundai’s dramatic new exterior style “platform”, made popular by the 2011 Elantra and Sonata. This will mean a sportier exterior with more curves and cuts, and an interior with some of the most innovative technology features available in its class. It also wouldn’t be surprising to see some of the high-end luxury features found in the Elantra, like heated rear seats, Bluelink technology, and fresh new materials on the seating and dash.
Under the hood, the publication is guessing Hyundai will stick with the base 175-hp, 2.4-liter four-cylinder that made its debut in 2010. There is, however, a rumor surfacing that the Santa Fe could also be offered as a hybrid – another exciting development for Hyundai customers and fans.

Portland Car Dealer: Hyundai Elantra Limited Wins Yet Another Comparison Test
After taking home dozens of awards from ALG, AutoPacific, Ward, and others, it’s safe to call the 2001 Hyundai Elantra a “game-changer”. We can now add Kelley Blue Book to the list of publications to recognize the Elantra as best-in-class, as the 2011 model has tied for the top spot in the auto authority’s compact sedan comparison test. 
The test, which included the Elantra, Honda Civic, Chevrolet Cruze, and Ford Focus, was conducted by giving an overall rating as well as individual ratings for interior, exterior, performance, comfort/convenience, and value. KBB reviewers recognized that the Elantra provided remarkable luxury features and advanced design unlike any other vehicle in its price range, as well as best-in-class fuel economy at 40 highway MPG. Last year, the Elantra was also recognized by Motor Trend as the most fuel-efficient non-hybrid vehicle on the market.
Tying with the Honda Civic at 7.5/10 possible points, the Elantra was especially praised for having the lowest ticket price out of all 4 models at just $22,830. The Elantra looks to continue its reign at the top of its class for 2012, and we’re excited about more news on the model in the coming months. When the 2011 Hyundai Elantra Limited sedan showed up for our test, it arrived as a gut-shot to the entire compact sedan class. It started with the all-new Elantra shape, a small-sedan variation of the look that we already love on the Genesis and Sonata. It continued with a leather-lined, feature-filled interior that would have been considered excessive in a car from the next class up. – KBB.com
